Carlos Amorales was born in Mexico in 1970 and lives and works in Amsterdam Mexico City. He attended the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam and has created videos and performances which have been displayed in Europe, Mexico and the United States. His art revolves around "contemporary rituals" which often refer to the history and culture of Mexico and South America. Using films of different types of public meetings with an explicit or implicit political meaning, Amorales creates slow-motion visual rhythmic sequences accompanied by soundtracks.
